Deagen leads Hitech triple points finish at Spa

Round 2 - Spa-Francorchamps - Report

Hitech leaves Round 2 of the GB3 Championship at Spa-Francorchamps with a triple points finish, led by Deagen Fairclough’s P4 in Race 2.

Fairclough showed strong pace throughout the event at the Belgium Grand Prix venue, consistently running inside the podium positions across the weekend and converting that into a well-earned fourth place in Race 2.

The weekend was heavily affected by weather disruption, with the original race order reshuffled after the opening race was suspended due to heavy rain. The revised format meant two races were run to qualifying order, with grids set by Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2.

Qualifying

Deagen showed encouraging pace from the outset of the weekend, lining up P5 in Qualifying 1 and P4 in Qualifying 2, putting him firmly in the fight towards the front for both races.

Jin Nakamura was also consistently inside the top six, qualifying P6 for both races and setting himself up for strong points-scoring opportunities.

Felix Fu qualified P21 in both sessions, leaving him to optimise for strong recovery drives in both races.

Race 1

The first race of the weekend saw Deagen immediately on the move, gaining a position on lap one to run inside the top four. Unfortunately, his race was set back by front wing damage, forcing an unscheduled pit stop that dropped him to the back of the field and out of contention.

Jin spent much of the race inside the top five, running consistently before slipping back to P5, where he stayed to the flag after a Safety Car period.

Felix worked his way forward through the race to finish P12.

Race 2

Race 2 was much more positive for the team, with Deagen once again right in the mix at the front. He ran in the podium positions early on and held on to finish P4 after a strong and controlled drive.

Jin delivered another solid points finish in P7 after a consistent race in the midfield group.

Felix recovered well from the back of the grid, making progress through the field to finish P15.

Deagen Fairclough:

“It’s been good to be back in the mix at the front after a tough start to the season. The pace was strong all weekend and P4 is a result we can now start to build from.”
