Back from the break: British F4 enters the final phase

Round 7 - Donington Park - Preview

Four weeks after the last round of the F4 British Championship, the wait is finally over. Hitech returns to action this weekend as the series resumes at one of British motorsport’s most iconic circuits, with the championship now entering its final phase.

The break comes after a landmark weekend at Thruxton, where Hitech claimed its first two victories of the season. Theo Palmer delivered a breakthrough maiden win in Race 1 before Adam Al Azhari followed it up in Race 2, giving the team plenty of momentum heading into the second half of the campaign.

Now the focus turns to Donington Park, where the Grand Prix layout offers a very different test. Fast, flowing sections demand confidence and commitment, while the slower corners reward drivers who can carry momentum into the next part of the lap. In a British F4 field where the margins are fine, getting the balance between those two demands can make a significant difference.

The opening sequence builds quickly from Redgate into the Craner Curves and towards the Old Hairpin, with each section influencing what comes next. A driver who gets the car settled and carries speed through the opening part of the lap can gain momentum all the way towards the back straight, while a small mistake can have greater consequences.

The slower corners provide opportunities to attack and defend, while the slipstream on the long run back towards the start-finish line is likely to make the battle for track position particularly important.

For Hitech, the weekend is an opportunity to turn the momentum from Thruxton into another strong run of results. Theo’s first victory provided the breakthrough he had been chasing, while Adam’s immediate follow-up showed the strength of the team’s package.

Scott will be looking to respond after a difficult Thruxton weekend, while Chiara continues to go from strength to strength and currently leads in the British F4 Overtake Award stakes.

With four rounds still to come after Donington, the championship is beginning to take shape with Hitech looking to make the most of a strong season so far, hold onto the lead in the Teams’ Championship and keep all four cars moving forward.

Dominic Stott, Hitech British F4 Team Manager:

“It was great to finish the first half of the season with two victories at Thruxton, especially after the amount of work everyone has put in. Theo getting his first win and Adam following that up was a fantastic result for the whole team.”

Dominic continued:

“After four weeks away from the track, everyone is looking forward to getting back to racing. Donington is a very different circuit to Thruxton and it will be important to find the right balance between the high-speed sections and the slower corners. There are some great opportunities for racing there, so hopefully we can come away with another strong result.”
