Iconic Spa-Francorchamps challenge awaits Hitech F2

Round 8 – Spa-Francorchamps – Preview

Hitech heads to Belgium this weekend as the FIA Formula 2 Championship enters the second half of the season with Round 8 at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Following a challenging home event at Silverstone, the team arrives determined to turn encouraging pace into the results it knows are within reach.

Regarded as one of the most demanding and iconic venues on the F2 calendar, Spa-Francorchamps combines long straights, fast sweeping corners and dramatic elevation changes to create one of the ultimate tests for both driver and machine. The climb through Eau Rouge and Raidillon, the sweeping Pouhon and the flat-out run to Blanchimont all demand commitment, while the long Kemmel Straight provides one of the championship’s best overtaking opportunities.

The circuit is equally renowned for its unpredictable weather, with conditions often varying across different sections of the lap. The forecast suggests that could again be the case on Friday and Saturday, potentially creating strategic opportunities and placing an added emphasis on adaptability from both drivers and engineers throughout the weekend.

With six rounds remaining after Spa, every opportunity becomes increasingly valuable as the season enters a crucial phase. Ritomo Miyata and Colton Herta will both be aiming to deliver a competitive weekend and add to their points tally.

Jan Sumann, Hitech's F2 Head of Race Engineering:

“Spa is one of the standout events of the season and always presents a demanding challenge. It's a circuit where the drivers need confidence in the car to commit through the fast corners, while the weather can quickly add another dimension to the weekend.”

Jan continued:

“After Silverstone we’ve had the opportunity to review the areas we can improve, and our focus is on putting together a consistent weekend from the first session onwards. We know we have the pace, and it would be great to head into the summer break having converted that potential into the results we know we are capable of.”
