Lindblom celebrates maiden victory at Donington
Round 7 - Donington Park - Report
Hitech continued its strong run of form in the F4 British Championship at Donington Park, with Scott Kin Lindblom securing his maiden British F4 victory as the championship enters its final phase.
Following the team’s double victory at Thruxton, Scott delivered a breakthrough result in Race 2, while Theo Palmer added two further top-six finishes. Chiara Bättig and Adam Al Azhari also made good progress through the field.
Theo is now third in the Drivers’ Championship, with Scott sixth, Adam eighth and Chiara 15th.
Race 1
Theo started sixth, with Scott 10th, Chiara Bättig 15th and Adam 18th.
Palmer settled into sixth during the opening stages, while Scott immediately moved forward to ninth. Adam produced the strongest start of the group, charging from 18th to 15th before finding his way into 13th later in the lap.
The race became more difficult for Chiara as she slipped down the order, although she fought back to finish 18th. Theo maintained sixth to the finish, while Scott crossed the line ninth before a five-second track-limits penalty dropped him to 12th in the final classification.
Adam also lost places in the final order after running 13th on the road, eventually being classified 15th.
Race 2
Scott had the opportunity to respond immediately in Race 2, starting second on the reverse grid. Theo lined up seventh, Chiara 13th and Adam 20th.
Lindblom made the perfect start, moving straight into the lead and putting himself in position to fight for the victory he had been chasing all season.
Behind him, Theo held seventh as Chiara slipped to 15th, while Adam began another recovery drive from the back of the field.
The race was reset midway through when Jabar Al-Sabah attempted to pass Theo and went off track, bringing out the Safety Car and bunching the field together.
That created a tense final phase, but Scott remained composed when racing resumed, holding the lead to the chequered flag to secure his maiden British F4 victory.
Theo finished sixth, while Chiara recovered to 13th and Adam progressed to 14th.
The victory moved Scott into fifth in the Drivers’ Championship, with Theo third and Adam seventh.
Scott Kin Lindblom:
“It feels amazing to get my first win in British F4. We had a really strong car today and I knew I had to make the most of the reverse-grid opportunity. Taking the lead early gave me a great position, and after the Safety Car it was about staying focused and bringing it home. It’s a really special result for me and for everyone at Hitech.”
Race 3
With Scott’s breakthrough victory secured, attention turned to the final race, where Theo started sixth, Scott 11th, Chiara 13th and Adam 19th.
Theo initially ran seventh, but the complexion of the race changed when a mid-race Safety Car brought the field together. Palmer emerged from the restart in fourth and held position to the early finish prompted by a red flag.
Scott also produced another recovery drive, climbing from 11th to sixth, while Chiara moved up to 10th. Adam completed the weekend with another determined charge, gaining seven places from 19th to finish 12th.
The result put all four Hitech cars inside the top 12 and ensured the team left Donington with another victory and strong momentum heading into the final phase of the season.
Dominic Stott, Hitech British F4 Team Manager:
“It’s been another really positive weekend for the team. Scott’s first win is a fantastic result and something he has worked hard for, so it was great to see him take the opportunity in Race 2. Theo has continued to deliver strong results, while Chiara and Adam both showed good pace and made progress through the field. We come away from Donington with another win and plenty of positives as we head into the final phase of the season.”
