Deagen double delivers dominant Donington weekend for Hitech
Round 6 – Donington Park – Report
Hitech enjoyed another outstanding GB3 Championship weekend at Donington Park, with Deagen Fairclough claiming back-to-back victories to continue his remarkable run of form.
Deagen topped all six testing sessions before taking the front row for both opening races, including pole in Q2 with the fastest-ever GB3 lap at Donington Park. He then converted that pace into two victories, making it four wins from his last five races.
Qualifying
Deagen continued his unbeaten testing form into qualifying, finishing second in Q1 by just half a tenth before going one better in Q2.
His record-breaking lap secured pole for Race 2, giving him the front row for both opening races.
Jacob also produced another strong qualifying performance as he continued his rapid progress with Hitech.
Race 1
Starting second, Deagen made a superb getaway and immediately took the lead through Turn 1.
He controlled the race from the front despite pressure from championship leader Nikita Bedrin during the closing stages, remaining composed to secure his fourth victory of the season.
The result gave Deagen three wins from his last four races.
Jacob climbed from 11th to ninth, while Felix recovered from 18th to 13th.
Deagen Fairclough after Race 1:
“It was a great race but not an easy one. Nikita didn’t make it easy. Massive thanks to the team, the car has felt incredible here. Four in a row. We have made a good step forward and hopefully this second half of the season continues to be a strong one.”
Race 2
Deagen started from pole and made another perfect getaway, immediately opening a gap before the Safety Car was deployed following Bedrin’s Lap 2 incident.
When racing resumed, Deagen quickly rebuilt his advantage, pulling 1.3 seconds clear and setting the fastest lap.
A second Safety Car interrupted his charge, but with five minutes remaining Deagen again pulled clear, establishing a 1.5-second lead before storming to back-to-back victories.
It was his fifth win of the season and sixth GB3 career victory, making it four wins from his last five races. Hitech also claimed its sixth victory of the season.
Deagen after Race 2:
“Back-to-back wins now since Race 1 at Silverstone is pretty special. It was a bit more chilled that race, but I’m happy. Again, massive thanks to the team – they deserve it after all the hard work.”
Jacob fought from 17th to 15th, while Felix progressed from 13th into the top 10.
Race 3
The reverse grid put Deagen 12th on the grid, with Jacob 13th and Felix 16th.
Deagen climbed to 10th on the opening lap before moving into ninth and then eighth, passing Molnar.
He continued his charge with the fastest lap before producing an overtaking masterclass at the midpoint, passing Rehm for seventh and Lee for sixth.
Despite having the pace to run faster than the cars at the front, there was not enough time to complete his charge. Deagen finished sixth, gaining six places from his starting position.
Jacob also made progress to finish 10th, while Felix continued after an early spin to finish 17th.
