British F4 squad return to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix

British Grand Prix Invitational Round - Preview

Hitech TGR return to their home track this weekend as the British Grand Prix plays host to a special invitational round of British F4. The non-championship double-header marks a historic moment, as, for the first time, each step of the FIA’s single-seater pathway from F4 to Formula 2 will be in action on the same weekend.

Hitech will field five cars at Silverstone, adding to the team’s presence in both F2 and F3. It’s a unique opportunity for young drivers to showcase their skills on the biggest stage. We last raced at our home circuit in early May, with British F4 points leader Fionn McLaughlin scoring two podiums. And while this weekend’s event won’t count towards the 2025 championship, the Irishman will be eager to repeat his performance in front of a bumper crowd — and the onlooking F1 teams.

Red Bull Junior driver Fionn McLaughlin:

“It’ll be amazing to get out on track during a Grand Prix weekend. Silverstone is such a historic venue - it’s where the Formula 1 World Championship first raced 75 years ago. There’s always something magical about racing here, and I’ll be pushing hard to get back on that podium.”

Hailing from Henley-on-Thames, Leo Robinson considers Silverstone his home circuit and he can’t wait to take to the track in front of a capacity crowd.

Leo Robinson:

“I absolutely love Silverstone, especially the Maggots and Becketts section of the track. It’s a circuit you have to respect as it’s so fast and it will be incredible to drive in front of so many fans.”

This will also be a special occasion as Thomas Bearman will get to share the same circuit as his older brother Ollie, who races for the Haas F1 Team. The 15-year-old comes into this race in form, having won his maiden F4 race last time out at Oulton Park. That was in wet conditions, and with the forecast again looking unsettled, Thomas might find another opportunity to shine.

With no F1 Academy meeting this weekend, it allows Nina Gademan to rejoin our team, having last competed for us in the Formula Winter Series in Spain and Portugal earlier this year. The Dutch racer secured seven Female Trophy victories from nine starts, and she’ll form part of a five-car line-up, alongside Xavier Avramides, the 17-year-old rookie from Australia.

This weekend’s action will consist of two 25-minute plus one-lap races, with track action beginning on Friday, followed by Race 1 on Saturday at 17:00 (local time) and Race 2 on Sunday morning at 08:20 BST.
