Leo Robinson looks ahead to his home track

Round 2 - Silverstone - Preview

Just one week on from the season opener at Donington Park, Hitech TGR are back in action this weekend as Silverstone hosts the second round of the Wera Tools British F4 Championship. And not only is it a home race for Hitech, but also for Leo Robinson who is of British-Algerian nationality and lives in nearby South Oxfordshire.

Growing up in Henley-on-Thames, Leo says Silverstone is his favourite track on the calendar, and he can’t wait to take on the high-speed Formula 1 venue in an F4 car. The circuit’s Grand Prix layout offers a variety of corners and plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Leo Robinson on Silverstone:

“I love Silverstone, and I’ve either won or secured pole every time I’ve been there, so I’m really looking forward to racing on the iconic track next weekend.”

Leo continued:

“ My favourite section is into Maggotts and Becketts - it’s such high speed. It’s definitely a track that you need to respect.”

After taking three wins in the Rookie Cup at Donington Park last weekend, Irish racer Fionn McLaughlin will be hoping to continue his strong start to the year at Silverstone. Speaking about the Northamptonshire venue, Fionn believes the wide-open nature of the circuit will offer plenty of exciting racing.

Fionn McLaughlin

“It’s such an amazing place to drive, and I’m definitely excited to be heading there. I think the racing will be tough, with plenty of slipstreaming and closely packed battles.”

Fionn added:

“It’s also worth saying that Silverstone is a historic venue. When you think about all the drivers who have competed and won there, it’ll be an honour to add my name to that list.”

Thomas Bearman agrees that the historic nature of Silverstone makes it a special place. He said: “It’s nice to race somewhere with such heritage and history, and to know that so many brilliant legends have carved their names out at that circuit as well. And of course, my brother has driven it in an F1 car, which is also really cool…”

Finally, 17-year-old Xavier Avramides will also be looking to build on his Donington Park weekend when the action gets underway on Saturday morning.
