Joseph Smith joins Hitech’s British F4 line-up from Knockhill

British F4 - Driver Signing

Hitech TGR is pleased to announce that Joseph Smith will be making the step up to British F4 with the squad for the final four rounds of the season.

Joseph’s car racing debut came in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series last November, in which he took the Rookie Vice-Champion honours. The British driver moved up to the Ginetta Junior Championship this spring, claiming four overall podiums and six Rookie podiums, and amassing a creditable haul of points in his twelve races to date. Joseph is currently fourth in the Drivers’ Standings, but he will now step away from the series to focus on his British F4 campaign.

Earlier in his career, the 15-year-old progressed through the ranks of national and international karting, securing wins at every level.

Joseph will take over Hitech’s fourth British F4 car from Round 7 at Knockhill on 16-17 August and for the remainder of the season.

Dominic Stott, Hitech’s British F4 Team Manager:

“We’re pleased to welcome Joseph to Hitech, and to provide him with this opportunity to progress to British F4. He has enjoyed an impressive first season in cars in Ginetta and we look forward to seeing him perform at the next level.”

Joseph Smith commented:

“I’m excited to be stepping up to British F4 for the final four rounds of the season. It has already been a fantastic first campaign in cars for me, but the chance to graduate to British F4 after racing in Ginetta Junior is the perfect preparation for a full season in the series next year.”

Joseph continued:

“I’m really happy to be getting this opportunity with Hitech, and I hope to be able to contribute some strong results in the remaining rounds to help them as they fight for the title.”
