Hitech retains Michael Shin for 2027 FIA Formula 3 campaign
F3 Driver Announcement
Hitech is pleased to announce that Michael Shin will remain with the team for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 Championship, continuing his development in the series for a second consecutive season.
The South Korean driver made his full-time FIA Formula 3 debut with Hitech in 2026, returning to the team after previously competing with its GB3 squad in 2023.
Shin’s first full FIA Formula 3 campaign provided valuable experience across the championship’s challenging circuits. Racing against an established field throughout the season, Michael continued to build his understanding of the F3 car and the demands of competing on the Formula 1 support bill.
The 2026 season marked another important stage in Michael’s progression through the junior single-seater ranks, having gained further experience in the intervening two seasons across Eurocup-3, Formula Regional Oceania and Euroformula Open.
Michael will now enter 2027 with a full season of FIA Formula 3 experience behind him, allowing him and the team to build on the knowledge gained throughout his rookie campaign.
Michael Shin:
“There are particular aspects to the FIA Formula 3 championship that make it very competitive and challenging. I felt that there would be more to come from me by staying another year and further working on those areas in a familiar environment.”
“I want to thank the team for believing in me and making it possible to continue our journey together.”
Paul Bellringer, Hitech’s FIA Formula 3 Team Manager:
“We’re pleased to continue our relationship with Michael into the 2027 FIA F33 season. This year has been an important learning process for him, returning to FIA F3 for a full campaign after his previous experience in the championship. ”
Paul continued:
“Michael has had to learn a lot throughout the season, from the car and tyres to the level of competition and the demands of racing at this level. Having that experience behind him will be valuable heading into his second year.
“We know Michael well from his previous time with Hitech, and we believe there is a lot more to come from him. Continuity is important in Formula 3, and giving him another season with the team will allow us to build on the work we have already done together.
“We’re looking forward to seeing Michael take the next step in 2027 and continuing his development with Hitech.”
