A special day for Luke and Dino

Luke Browning and Dino Beganovic step up for the Formula 1 FP1 session in Bahrain

Luke Browning and Dino Beganovic will today receive one of the most significant opportunities in their motorsport careers when they take part in the Formula 1 FP1 session in Bahrain with Williams Racing Academy and Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, as part of their junior programmes.

A special day – and a breathless one! After jumping out of their Formula 2 cars at the end of Practice, Luke and Dino will be whisked away to the F1 Paddock on the other side of the track to jump into the Williams Racing FW47 and the Scuderia Ferrari SF-25 just 90 minutes later.

At 14.30 local time, they’ll head out for the hour-long session, acutely aware of the esteemed company they’ll be keeping on the Bahrain International Circuit, but laser-focused on the job they need to do today, which is all-important.

After a quick download with their respective engineering teams, they’ll make the trip back to the F2 Paddock ready for Round 2 Qualifying.

This is an exciting day, but they’ll need full focus to navigate the transition between two very different specification race cars, as Hitech’s F2 Team Manager explains.

Clive Hatton, Hitech's F2 Team Manager, speaking to F2 about a busy day of F2-F1-F2 action for Luke and Dino:

“Firstly, it’s a great opportunity for both drivers to get that experience – it’s obviously something they dream about doing as a kid, so even just to get to drive an F1 car once for them on a race weekend, that’s great. ”
“Preparing for it is tricky: one, jumping up to an F1 car they obviously need to try to adapt that way but then obviously they need to adapt back to the F2 car for Qualy - bring their braking points back, cornering speeds back. So that first run in Qualy will be all about learning, the second run will be their main performance run.”

Everyone at Hitech wishes Luke and Dino the very best of luck.
