All set for the F2 season finale in Abu Dhabi
Round 14 - Abu Dhabi - Preview
Hitech TGR make the relatively short hop from Qatar to Abu Dhabi this week for the final round of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship, determined to close out the season with a strong performance.
Both Dino Beganovic and Luke Browning staged impressive fightbacks in Qatar, but unfortunately for Luke it wasn’t enough to keep his title hopes alive. The focus now shifts to securing the best possible position in the standings in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships as we arrive at Yas Marina with renewed confidence and clear targets for the grand finale.
Momentum from Lusail: Strong Pace, Bold Recovery Drives
The penultimate round in Qatar showcased Hitech’s resilience and raw performance potential. Despite a challenging qualifying session that hampered progress in the Sprint, the team delivered one of its most competitive Sundays of the season.
Dino produced a standout drive in the Feature Race, charging through the field with a perfectly executed alternative tyre strategy before ultimately placing P11.
In similarly impressive style, Luke started from P18 and set about carving his way forward, eventually securing P10 after a series of decisive overtakes and consistently strong lap times.
This long-run pace and stability provide an encouraging platform as the team prepares for the final chapter of the season. Abu Dhabi will be about optimising the car, taking every opportunity that presents itself, and giving both drivers the best chance to end the year on a high.
Focus Turns to Yas Marina: A Track of Opportunity
The iconic Yas Marina Circuit often produces unpredictable, strategic racing, and we enter the weekend confident that its characteristics can play to our strengths. With long straights, heavy braking zones, and a surface that rewards careful tyre management, Abu Dhabi may offer the perfect stage for another late-season surge.
A Strong Campaign We Can Be Proud Of
It has been another marquee year in Formula 2 and one of our most competitive campaigns to date. Luke has been in the fight from the season opener, running at the top of the standings early on. His maiden F2 victory at Monza and a total of nine podiums highlight an exceptional season.
Dino also earned his first F2 victory in Baku, bringing his podium tally to four as he continues his strong development.
The Team’s Drive to the Finish
Having lost ground in the Teams’ Battle, Hitech’s F2 Team Manager, Clive Hatton acknowledges that overturning the deficit will be difficult at this stage – but, as Abu Dhabi has shown in recent years, anything is possible.
Clive Hatton, Hitech's F2 Team Manager:
“Our focus this weekend is on maximising execution and giving our drivers everything they need to fight at the front. It will be a challenge to make up the deficit in the Teams’ standings, but Abu Dhabi always presents strategic opportunities and we will make sure we’re in a position to capitalise. The aim is simple: finish the season the way we’ve raced all year – with determination, teamwork, and absolute commitment.”
