First win of the season for Fairclough as Micallef shines on debut

Round 3 - Hungaroring - Report

Hitech enjoyed a strong weekend in the GB3 Championship at the Hungaroring, highlighted by a Race 1 victory for Deagen Fairclough.

Fairclough delivered the standout moment of the weekend, taking victory after a strong start and controlling the race from the front. The result marked his first win of the season and a major boost for the team.

There was further encouragement with an impressive GB3 debut from Jacob Micallef, who showed strong pace across all three races and scored a top-ten finish in Races 1 and 3. Yuhao Fu also enjoyed a positive weekend, with the highlight P9 in Race 3.

Race 1

Deagen made a strong start from the front row, immediately challenging for the lead into Turn 1 before completing the move and pulling clear at the front. After a mid-race Safety Car, he managed the restart well and controlled the closing stages to secure victory.

Jacob ran competitively inside the top ten on debut and finished ninth, securing a strong first result in the championship. Felix finished in P13.

Race 2

Deagen was again involved in the early lead fight after another strong start, but his race ended shortly after the opening laps when he stopped on the approach to the penultimate corner following the Safety Car period.

Jacob endured a disrupted race featuring multiple Safety Car periods and was unable to fight for the major points, while Felix finished in P11.

Race 3

Race 3 brought a frustrating end to the weekend for Deagen, whose race ended at Turn 1 after becoming caught in an opening-lap incident involving two Rodin cars, triggering an early Safety Car.

Following the restart, Jacob continued his strong debut weekend, running as high as fifth during the early stages before ultimately finishing seventh.

Felix also made steady progress through the field, climbing to ninth in a heavily disrupted race.

Phil Blow, Hitech’s GB3 Team Manager:

“It was a weekend of real highs and lows. Deagen’s Race 1 win was a standout performance and showed what we’re capable of at the front. Jacob’s debut was very encouraging with strong pace and a solid points finish, and Yuhao also made good progress across the weekend. Race 2 and Race 3 didn’t go our way, but there are clear positives to take forward as a team.”
