Hitech ready for GB3 season opener at Silverstone
Round 1 - Silverstone - Preview
The 2026 GB3 Championship bursts into life this weekend at Silverstone, marking the first stop in an eight-round calendar that will take the field across some of Europe’s most demanding circuits.
Following the opening round, the championship will visit Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring before returning to Silverstone mid-season. The campaign then continues at Donington Park and Brands Hatch, before concluding in Spain at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya later in the year.
Fielding Jin Nakamura, Yuhao “Felix” Fu and Deagen Fairclough, the team is targeting a front-running start.
The team arrives at the season opener well prepared following an encouraging pre-season programme, with Deagen among the pace-setters across multiple test days.
The 2026 season introduces significant technical and sporting changes. The updated Tatuus MSV GB3-025 car features a new Mountune 2.4-litre engine, alongside aerodynamic and chassis revisions that have already reduced lap times considerably in testing.
Race formats have been revised, with all races now running to a fixed 25-minute duration, placing greater emphasis on race management and execution. A new numbering system based on championship standings has also been introduced, while onboard camera colours will aid driver identification. Reflecting Hitech’s vice-championship finish last year, the team will run car 4 (black camera) for Jin, car 5 (fluorescent yellow) for Felix, and car 6 (fluorescent red) for Deagen.
With three races scheduled across the weekend, beginning after two qualifying sessions on Saturday, the opening round offers an immediate opportunity to build momentum in what is expected to be a highly competitive season.
Phil Blow, Hitech’s GB3 Team Manager:
“We’ve had a productive pre-season and we’re optimistic heading into the new campaign after finishing as vice-champions in 2025. We have a strong line-up and look forward to supporting their development across a calendar that features a range of challenging circuits.”
