With testing increasingly limited the further a driver progresses up the FIA single seater ladder, Hitech GP’s in-house simulator forms a fundamental aspect of pre-race preparation.
Hitech’s simulator features a fully adaptable, multi-body vehicle model, Pacjeka 6.1 tyre model and a comprehensive list of tracks.
Not only is our simulator an invaluable piece of equipment in driving training, but its realism allows engineering tests to be conducted, ensuring our team arrive to each weekend with a fully optimised setup, ready to hit the track.

Our workshop has 6 self-contained race bays, all fully equipped with vices, storage, integrated blue roll holders and waste bins as well as roll out tool boxes, allowing our car crews to always have their own tool kits with them at events.
It also houses a full size vice for assembling uprights and a full size surface table to enable an accurate set up of our race cars.
There is also two cold parts cleaners as well as one hot parts wash, to ensure that car parts can be kept in the best condition possible.
You can also find a few empty bottles of champagne lying around in some of the bays, ‘cause you know, it would be a shame to bring them home full.

The CAD system used by Hitech Technologies is Catia V5 and in-house design projects include race car components, both mechanical and composite, and test rig design.

Both complex surfaces and precision machined components can be measured using the FARO Design arm. Gearbox, suspension and bodywork components have all been measured in this way as the arm has both mechanical probing and laser scanning capability. Specialist software then allows accurate translation from measured co-ordinate and cloud point elements into CAD enabling the development of associated designs.
In addition to the FARO Design arm, a range of traditional inspection equipment is used to perform component measurements.

Two key items of equipment are shown in the accompanying image.
The first is the floor plate and its associated ‘strong wall’ and the second is the MTS Loadframe. The floor plate is used to mount vehicles and the test rigs that are associated with the specific tests being conducted, such as torsional stiffness or suspension compliance. Additionally, nose and wing assemblies or gearbox and rear suspension assemblies (by way of example) can be mounted onto the strong wall in order to facilitate load deflection measurement or even to allow replay of track recorded suspension movement.
The MTS Loadframe can be used for any axial loading, whether tensile or compressive as either proof, ultimate or fatigue loading in the case of structural or material testing. Additionally the machine can be used to undertake development work on rates of suspension elements or similar.

Here at Hitech GP, the reliability and maintenance of our race car components is handled in our simple but effective Sub-Assembly room. This fully stocked and dedicated clean room exists purely to ensure that each individual component is checked and meets our strict and high standards before making it onto the car.
The equipment available to us ranges from Presses, Surface Stones, Jig Tools and a wide range of hand tools, provided by our partners MAC Tools.
